What is the data license for the directions API?

I currently use the old MapQuest OpenData Directions API to generate routes in my application. But MapQuest has seemingly abandoned the open data initiative, and the underlying OSM map haven’t been updated in more than a year. So I’m looking for alternatives.

Graphhopper looks promising, but I have one requirement I can’t find the answer to anywhere.
What is the license of the routing data provided by the directions API? Is it based on OSM data?

I need to be able to get a route, and store it in my app for later use. Can I do that with Graphhopper Basic?

The data is licensed under OpenStreetMap. See the attribution notice:

Additionally to our attribution you always need to include attribution to OpenStreetMap, regardless of e.g. white-label options.
