Restrict Crossing Country Boundaries

Is there a way to restrict graphhopper from crossing country boundaries when computing a route?

Not yet via some configuration only via customized version where you would need to put a big weight on the borders. Do you have a use case in mind?

Well in the instance of our delivery fleet, there is a high cost of crossing the border (customs on items in truck, even if not delivered in Canada). I noticed in one of the route optimizations, graphhopper went through Canada to get from Michigan to New York.

Thanks, for letting me know of this use case! Would the cost also arise if the truck or car does not ship items?

A certain cost would arise as the driver would have to have a passport in order to cross. There are also probably other restrictions and reporting on commercial trucks in Canada that would have to be done in addition to the ones already done the US.
