Hi all,
I’m new here an do not see any profile for e-bike.
Should we use racingbike or scooter or a custom one?
Any help will be appreciated to create custom one for Canada and US, i guess legislation are almost same?
What are the differences compared to a bio bike in terms of routing? I don’t see any. Even Komoot only adopts the expected speed with some constant factor, but there are no specific e-bike profiles.
The profile to choose only depends on the characteristic of the e-bike. Electric motor support is available for all the already supported profiles tracking, mountainbike and even race bike.
What is bio bike, boring bike regular bike I guess?
For example, with my electric bike, I can take a road that is inaccessible to a conventional bike because of my speed (50 km/h) and avoid certain bike paths when I see bikes there.
I assume that the purpose of creating different profiles is, in short, to apply different route rules based on what the rider is allowed or not allowed to do and their preferences, such as a mountain bike that prefers to ride on unpaved roads compared to a road bike that prefers paved roads.
If I have misunderstood, should I then base myself on the closest profile (road bike) and modify a few settings based on the characteristic of the e-bike like speed? What else?

Exactly this.
I was talking about pedelecs because that is what we call E-bike here in Austria/Germany and I think most of Europe. You either seem to have a moped or an s-pedelec which both are usually not allowed to use cycleways here.
For your use-case I would start with the custom rule for our motorcycle custom rule, remove the usage of the curvature stuff and adopt the rules according to the usual speed you ride and your local legislation.
Cool! So I was reading the difference and in short " A Pedelec is basically the same as a Class 1 e-bike in the U.S. system."
Here in Canada, same as US, I use it without license by law it’s closer to bike but can go to road.
Anyway now I have a starting point to play with settings.
Thank you very much!
